The phenomenology of the recently discovered mode of convection, which yields multipairs of convection rolls in vibrated beds of granules, is reviewed. In addition, a dimensionless control parameter that characterizes the dynamic state of granular beds (the specific case being the convection roll patterns) is obtained through particle dynamics simulations.
