The renormalization problem of the spontaneously broken gauge theories is studied by means of the Slavnov-Taylor identities derived from the Becchi-Rouet-Stora transformation. It is shown that the renormalization can be achieved without breaking the invariance under the BRS transformation. Using this fact we can uniquely determine the form of the renormalized Lagrangian.
