A subtraction scheme is proposed for the class of theories with auxiliary fields which are apparently non-renormalizable contrary to renormalizability of the original theories before introducing the auxiliary fields. In terms of the effective actions analysed are relations between two classes (one is original and another is with auxiliary fields) of theories and types of divergences which appear in the theories with auxiliary fields and cannot be subtracted in the ordinary minimal subtraction scheme. Our scheme is carried out by a modification of the undetermined multiplier method to obtain a kind of finite effective potentials with auxiliary fields and to recover the sets of critical exponents faithful to the original theories. In order to illustrate the present scheme the self-interacting scalar field theory is studied in the lowest loop-approximation.
