The Rotational Mode of Asymmetric Objects in Quantum Field Theory

Non-spherical extended objects in (2+1)-dimensional quantum field theory are studied. The non-spherical nature creates a new set (ω, S) of quantum mechanical operators in addition to the quantum coordinate (and its canonical conjugate) of an extended object and the usual creation and annihilation operators for quantum particles. These new operators are closely associated with the rotational quantum modes. The invariance of the theory under Poincare Group transformations specifies the way in which the quantum mechanical operators appear in the Heisenberg fields. The Wigner rotation induced by a Lorentz boost is naturally absorbed by a transformation of the angle operator ω.
