We solve the U(N) symmetric Thirring model with only U(1) current-current interaction by using a functional method. From the result for the two-point Green's function, we determine the anomalous dimension of Fermi fields. It is found that the anomalous dimension depends on the number of fermions as well as on the coupling constant. The value of the c-number Schwinger term is also determined. This enables us to remove the ambiguities in Dashen and Frishman's result for the anomalous dimension of the U(N) symmetric Thirring model.
