On the basis of a formalism using distribution functions, thermodynamic properties of the one-dimensional Ising mixture are investigated for the frozen system with atomic short-range order and the annealed system. In addition to magnetic interactions, non-magnetic interactions are taken into account for the nearest-neighbor pairs of atoms. The thermodynamic quantities are calculated exactly in the thermodynamic limit by the use of the transfer matrix method. As typical examples, the two cases, i.e., (i) a mixture composed of a ferromagnetic and an antiferromagnetic material and (ii) an antiferromagnet diluted by a non-magnetic material, are studied. The thermodynamic properties are discussed in connection with atomic short-range order.
