The large angle P-P scattering in the accelerator energy region is discussed. This large angle scattering is assumed to be due to the real part of the scattering amplitude. The real amplitude for an arbitrary angle is derived, by using only the experimental information on the imaginary amplitude for small momentum transfer, and the ratio of the real to the imaginary forward amplitude. Here a model for the central collision is introduced. The differential cross section for large momentum transfer and the total elastic cross section can be obtained from this real amplitude. They fit the experimental curves well, and support our assumption. We can also infer from the real amplitude that the region of the central collision is of the order of a nucleon Compton wave length.
