• Transfer of two neutrons between heavy ions at the incident energy near the Coulomb barrier is investigated in terms of the semiclassical strong absorption model. The nuclear radius parameter obtained from analysis of this process is in moderately good agreement with the best-fit values in the cutoff model for elastic scattering of heavy ions. This parameter is found to be smaller than those deduced from many classical analyses of single nucleon transfer reactions at energies well above the barrier. This discrepancy is discussed.
