It is proposed that if the soliton represents the extended particle, "the quantization of the soliton" as well as the quantization of the fluctuations about the classical solution, has to be performed, and this is illustrated by using a two-dimensional model. By this quantization, the center-of-mass motion and internal motion of the soliton are in the eigenstates of the free soliton Hamiltonian. Therefore it is shown that the quantization of the soliton suggests a mechanism which produces the degeneracy of the states like the string model. But our quantization is not manifestly relativisitic. It is shown that the energy and momentum of the soliton can be written in the Lorentz-invariant form, by taking into account carefully the zero-mode soliton and the excited soliton to order of P^2/M_0^2 in the special case of λφ^4 theory, where P and M_0 are the momentum of the soliton and the mass of the zero-mode soliton, respectively.
