On the Stability of A Classical Field in the SU(2) Yang-Mills Theory

It is shown in the SU(2) Yang-Mills theory that a certain classical field configuration which gives a constant field strength has an instability due to quantum fluctuations of the gauge field. Implications of this phenomenon are also discussed.
