In growth processes of planetesimals and protoplanets, the gas drag on them plays important roles. It is interesting to study the gas flows around rotating celestial bodies with gravity, and it is important to evaluate the gas drag on those bodies from the viewpoint of planetary cosmogony. In order to understand the effects of the rotation and the gravity of such bodies on the gas drag and also to observe lift and torque, we performed three-dimensional numerical simulations for the flows around rotating bodies with gravity as well as for flows around non-rotating bodies for comparison. We found that the rotation does not affect the gas drag significantly, i.e., the features of the gas drag for rotating bodies is quite similar to that for non-rotating bodies, as found in previous studies, though the flow patterns in these two cases are significantly different. It can thus be concluded that gravity rather than rotation affects the gas drag. We also estimated the effect of torque due to gas drag on planetary rotation and found that the torque may reduce planetary rotation in the rerrestrial zone, but not in the Jovian planetary zone.
