Recent experimental studies with radioactive ion beams (RI beams) are reviewed. The development of RI beams has enabled us to study the nuclear structure of nuclei far from the stability line. For the future expansion of these studies, many institutes in the world are planning to construct new RI-beam facilities. Among them, the RI beam factory (RIBF) at RIKEN will be one of the facilities able to provide the highest intensity RI beams. An overview and present status of RIBF are also presented.
