The absorption of foliar applied urea in the dark was studied. Radish, tobacco and tomato plants were sprayed with urea and kept in the dark as well as in the light during 3(1/2) hour absorption period. In the dark the absorption decreased to some degree in tobacco and tomato leaves, while no significant decrease was showed in the radish leaves. From these results author assumed that urea penetrates the radish leaf surface largely through the cuticle and it does tobacco one largely through the stomates. It is questioned that the absorption of urea through the stomates is so much and rapid as has generally been accepted, at least in the case of radish plant.
