• The aim of this paper is to clarify the characteristics of child protection policy especially in the first half of the third republic France, focusing on the legislation of the child abuse repression law of 1898. The proceeding reserch pointed out that there was a controversy between the two factions-the Left and the Right-in the legislation of the child abuse repression law of 1898. And this paper's concern is to examine the fundamental idea and the leadership of the left, that is, Th.Roussel, R.Berenger and P.Strauss, etc., who were not only senators but also members of Societe Generale des Prison.
