In the early postwar period of Japan, the Core-Curriculum was criticized as the one which was severed from the prewar period and which did not inherit anything, or as the one which maintained the continued system. But, as a matter of fact, the Core-Curriculum succeeded the inheritance of the Taisho period liberal education from the prewar period by way of the curriculum of the National Schools or other schools in the wartime. Since the 1970s a wide range of the studies has been done on continued nature of the Core-Curriculum between the prewar and postwar periods and during the wartime. In this paper, I will try to re-evaluate the continuation of the Core-Curriculum through the prewar and inter-war periods based on their outcomes and issues raised.
