The purpose of this paper is to consider the differences between John Dewey's lectures held in China from May 1919 to July 1921 and William Heard Kilpartrick's lectures held in China in 1927. Dewey and Kilpartrick had the same subjects on the lecture, but differed in the contents. The greatest difference in the contents between them is the relation between education and life. Dewey insisted on the role of school education to link it with the everyday life in the society, and Kilpartrick insisted that the school education is the everyday life itself. But some people misinterprete the differences of their claims.
