Elisabeth Kubler-Ross, American psychiatrist the author of the well-known book "On Death and Dy-ing" points out five different stages in the psychological makeup of the patients facing death as a result of the analysis her made after her interviewed more than 200. Her investigation deserves a high esteem that will be known for many years to come as an outstanding endeavour to understand the meaning of human existence and to find out methods of taking wholehearted care of patients in the age when talking about death was considered a taboo even in the world of medical science. It is the purpose of this paper to demonstrate that there are special elements quite characteristic of the Japanese due to our culture. My standpoint is based upon the care I have taken of 62 Japaneses death-bed bound for the past more 10 years. I owe family members of the deceased many advices and acknowledged the recordes of their lives when they were in the stage of terminal care and tried to make my findings objective. I must also acknowledge that my investigation was based upon the comparative analyses I made with the 5 tages that Kubler-Ross brought out.
