• This paper deals with how few is few in the sentence Many are called, but few are chosen. The aim of the study was to determine conceptual limitations of meaning within the usage of native speakers of English. For this purpose, an academic survey was used to collect data by distributing questionnaires to American citizens living in Okinawa Prefecture. It was found that distinct modal points were distributed within the range of responses received. Four different relative ranges of numerical domains of few were identified : (1) Certain range of few, (2) Probable range of few, (3) Possible range of few, (4) Potential range of few. I believe this paper may substantially contribute to analytical interpretations of the meaning of few. In addition to that, I would like to point out that a new scientific method of measuring the meaning of few has been achieved by this paper.
