Coaxial collinear antennas by the present design rule does not show any frequency properties expected by the present design rules when we observe return losses of the antenna. We have found that the frequency properties have poor relationships to the length and the number of coaxial sections of the antenna when we make the antenna by the present desingn rule. By these experiments, we found that these antennas are electromagnetically unstable in the frequency domain and the present design rules are imperfect by themselves. We also studied the antenna considered as a simplex device and found characteristic frequency properties which suggest the possibility of a new design rule of the antenna. The possibility of a new design rule will be presented in part II of this paper.
