In recent China, with the expansion and differentiation of higher education, private sector becomes one of the most dynamic and fast-growing segments of postsecondary education, as witnesses a dramatic increase in the number of privately-run institutions in postsecondary education. Generally, the private sector is largely market driven, and the majority of these institutions have the advantages of offering vocational education connecting with the demands of society, Although, limited reports highlighted in this issue, whether the education of private sector progressed satisfactorily or not remains a question. This paper aims to explore the situation and the problems in privately-run institutions in postsecondary education, using analysis of education evaluation given by students. The topic can therefore be broken down into three research questions. First, what is the difference of education evaluation among different types of students? Second, what is the difference of education evaluation among different types of institutions? Third, what is the determinants in education evaluation? The data presented in this paper were collected from a questionnaire survey entitled 'The Attitude Survey of Students in the Privately-run Institutions in Postsecondary Education", which was conducted in June 2001, with the sampling size of 430 students in zhejiang, China. The major findings be summarized as follows. The difference in education evaluation of the privately-run institutions was lead not only by the characteristics of educational policy and curriculum in individual institutions, but also by the aspiration and motivations of students, In other words, a good evaluation was result from the clear purposes of the students, and their positive participation in study.
