Silicon substrates are electrochemically anodized in a hydrofluoric acid-ethanol solution, and nanostructural silicons are produced on the substrates. The nanostructural silicons are used as an emtting layer of electroluminescent (EL) devices with a transparent electrode. Newly a conductive polymer film named PEDOT/PSS is applied to the transparent electrode, and a white emission from the EL devices is firstly observed at 300V, 0.5mA. Moreover, a pressure experiment is conducted, aiming at surface planarizing of the nanostructural silicons with uneven surfaces. In spite of the very high pressue, the planarized samples show the almost same photoluminescence intensities as those of samples without pressure. The results obtained by this pressure experiment show the possibility of a new technique of transparent electrode formation.
