A Moroccan migrant worker, Jamal Lahoussain established a NGO, Migrations et Developpement with French and Moroccan workers and volunteers in France. Its purpose was to realize rural development projects in Southern Morocco, such as electrification, water supply, medical care and education. Through observations at its 4 project sites in the Atlas Region, the author evaluates the results of these works and shows how migrant workers can establish their new social status either in France or in Morocco.
