We know that kimono Is the Japanese beautiful ethnic clothes. But we don't wear it usually because of the inconvenience to work and the cost of it. Kimono was worn everyday and night fifty years ago, because it was convenient and cheep. Kimono is made of only 8 pieces. We don't cut the cloth into small pieces to reuse. When we wore out the kimono, we make haori-a kind of jacket, small kimono for children, obi-a sash, and so on. Kimono rebirthes 7 times, it is a common saying. In the Edo period there were as many recycling clothes shops as the shops of new clothes. And Japanese people love the patch works. Patching is not only for the poor people but also for riches and connoisseurs. To love an old small piece of cloth shows their sofisticated taste and well educated historical knowledge. Great masters of tea ceremony was the collectors of old clothes to make small pouches for tea pots, spoons, bowls and others. We need to appreciate the aesthetic point of view of reusing system of kimono.
