Since metals have the metallic characteristic luster, the appearance is not good. For the reason, coating of an inorganic substance for coloring on metal foundation has been performed.. In this research, ceramic glazes of red color system were synthesized. Those color tones were evaluated, and the consideration of mechanism of coloring was made. As composition of glaze, the granular transparent glass consisted on the mixture of Si0_2, PbO, and K_2C0_3 were synthesized and colorant was added. The mixture of CdO and CdS, gold chloride, and selenium red (substance which consists of a solid solution of CdS and CdSe) were used for colorant. And the samples were produced using compound glaze. About the produced sample. evaluation of the coloring situation by microscope observation and color measuring instrument and the composition element analysis of surface by fluorescence X-rays analyzer were carried out. CdO and CdS were sublimated under calcinations in the CdO-CdS system. Moreover, in gold chloride system glaze, because of strong acidity, handling was difficult and the glaze has not formed. In selenium red glaze system, Calcinations emperature was best at 830 C. In the processing which was lower than this temperature, coloring was bad. 0n the contrary, in the high temperature, the crack was generated. It can be presumed that the scattering and diffraction of the light are generated by dispersing CdS and CdSe in the transparent glass colloidal and that then they take on color as the result.
