Generally, in collecting a trace amount of manganese with coprecipitation in solution, iron (III) hydroxide is used as carriers. Howerer, in this study, instead of iron (III) hydroxide, aluminium hydroxide was used, and manganese was determined by the A. C. polarography. It is the main subject in this study to investigate how pH in the sample solution, varieties of precipitant, coexistance of reducing agent, and other factors influenced the coprecipitation rate of manganese. When adding the aluminium sulfate suitable for 40 times as much aluminium as manganese to the solution containing a trace amount of manganese, the precipitation rate with sodium hydroxide showed that the precipitation rate became 100 percent at pH >9,also with ammonia-ammonium salt at pH >9.5. When L-ascorbic acid was contained to the solution, in the case pH about 9 and >10,the rate in sodium hydroxide showed 100 percent. In ammonia-ammonium salt, it showed 96 percent at pH 9.2. Besides, in spite of the increase of pH value, the rate decreased. In all the cases, manganese oxidized, and in this precipitation the color from light-red through brown was observed.
