• The Crystal structures of two rare copper (II) phenanthroline compIexbs with dithionate ion (S2O6-) [Cu (H2O)3 (phen)] S2O6・H2O [1], [Cu (S2O6) (phen)2] [2] (phen : 1,1O-phenanthroline(1) have been determined based on X-ray diffraction data. The crystal of compIex [1] is monoclinic with space group P21/a (No.14(2)), and that of [2] is monoclinic with C2/c (No.15(2)). The geometry around the copper atom is square-pyramid or distorted octahedron for [1] and trigonal bipyramid for [2]. In both structures, the S2O62- ion has an almost staggered configuration (D3d) for the two SO3 groups. In [1], thd S2O62- ion bonds with semi-coordination to Cu through O atom. The bond distance of Cu-O (S2O62- ion) is 2.618 (4) A. In [2], the S2O62- ion coordinate as a unidentate ligand with a bond length of 2.142 (4) A.
