A mechanism of diffusion of chromium ion into collagen in the tanning process was examined by using an assumption of an anomalous type of diffusion. From the change in sorption amount of chromium with time, various kinds of sorption and diffusion data were obtained. Using these data, it was estimated that the diffusion mechanism of this tanning was a type of anomalous diffusion of ”surface concentration dependent on time,” particularly a two-stage type.
