There are many words which include "WA(話)" in Japanese vocabulary. Those words are very important when people communicate using the Japanese language. Recently the Chinese character WA is fixed to be pronounced as "WA" in ONYOMI (Chinese-like way) and "HANASU" in KUNYOMI (Japanese way). Buddhist monks started to use the word WA when Zen Sect was introduced to Japan from China around Kamakura era, and at that time it was used as a Buddhist jargon, then gradually it was popularized and laymen also started to use it. In mainland China, the character WA has been used for more than 2000 years. You can find examples of them in Shijing. In Tang and Song era poets did not like to use it in the verse, while they used it a lot in novels. Also, you can find it in colloquial style songs Yuan-qu, because WA has a characteristic of daily conversation. Thus, in this thesis we tried to find the different way of use of WA between Japan and China considering of time flow.
