The reaction between metallic titanium and bromine was studied and was found that both elements react from ca. 20℃ vigorously to form titanium tetrabromide. The vapor pressure of the latter was also measured and thermodynamic functions for the evaporation of TiBr_4 were obtained. The reaction between metallic titanium and TiBr_4 was also studied and was claimed that there exist three compounds in the system of Ti and TiBr_4 : that is TiBr_3,TiBr_2 and TiBr. The existence of TiBr was postulated in this report for the first time. These three compounds disproportionate according to the following reactions respectively; (a) 2TiBr_3(s)=TiBr_2(s)+TiBr_4(g), (b) 3TiBr_2(s)=2TiBr(s)+TiBr_4(g) and (c) 4TiBr(s)=3Ti(s)+TiBr_4(g). The thermodynamic functions for the above reactions were also obtained from the measurements.
