I wanted to use a method of instantaneous-flash-photography for the purpose of recoding high-speed-motions of the focal-plane-shutter by easy method. I took flash-photographies of high-speed mechanisms of the shutter with the exposing less than 3μ. s. In this research, I controlled the each delay-time of flashing by a time-delay-circuit of exclusive use for this purpose and used ET-220 as a electric-discharg-tube. By the result of this method, three new facts were discovered. (1) about the velocity-loss of front-curtain-axis when cam of this axis kicked the hook and let the rear curtain starts, I can say as follows, the velocity-loss will be determined by the velocity just before the motion of kicks and the velocity-down of cam just after the motion of kicks, on the case of 1/50 sec., is less than the case of 1/500 sec. About the time T while the front axis is disturbed its speed-up, I obtained results as follows. T_<500>=0.3m.s T_<50>=0.15m.s I found that it is necessary to take values of speed-down due to the gap between the cam and hook into account for the designing. The maximum angle of displacement of the hook is made to changed by the velocity when the cam contacted to the hook, so I found that it is necessary to taking the maximum angle of displacement among every exposure-time in order to determine the arrangement and formation when we want to designe a shutter. (2) Up to this time, we have never found the bounding condition of shutter curtains except on the case that the curtains had returned in the field of picture, so it become to be able to prevent the bounding that will grow up to the dimensions interupt the picture field. I first could record a mechanism of shock absorber by use of this research and I made it possidle to prevent the bounding of curtains fundamentally. (3) I could record the slit-width of running curtains in photographsh sharply. These data are very usefull to accuracy-correcting of shutter testers and confirming of the exposure-time.
