We study excited baryons theoretically to get insight on physics of low energy QCD. We perform a phenomenological analysis using a non-relativistic quark model. Particularly, we investigate a possibility of spatial deformation of excited baryons, which might have relevance with quark confinement mechanism. Masses and electromagnetic transitions are computed and compared with experimental data.
