Conductometric titration of solutions of single ionic homopolymers as well as their mixtures was made with several bases. The samples used were poly (acrylic acid), alginic acid, poly (vinyl sulfate), and dextran sulfate. In the mixtures of poly (acrylic acid) and poly (vinyl sulfate), and of alginic acid and dextran sulfate, the contents of sulfate and carboxyl groups observed by the conductance change with neutralization were in agreement with those derived from the concentration of the original homopolymers. This method was found to applicable to the viscous polysaccharides from red algae containing both the sulfate and carboxyl groups for the determination of the contents of each component.
