In this paper, transforming the Rieke diagram of an oscillator into a convenient form for a travelling wave analysis, we discuss the noise in the injection locked oscillator. We clarify how an input noise wave, interacting with a carrier wave, changes into an output noise wave. Then we explain the magnitude of an output noise wave graphically on the Rieke diagram. Results from this analysis show that the the output noise wave is extremely large at low-level injection, and decreases with increasing injection level. Reaching the minimum, it then increases toward infinity. The PM-noise is extremely high at the low-level injection and then decreases monotonically. On the contrary the AM-noise increases monotonically with increasing injection level, and becomes extremely large at the high-level injection.
