The ternary aluminum-tin-gallium and aluminum-indium-tin systems have been investigated by electromotive force methods over the temperature range 690° to 810℃. Activities, excess molar free energies, excess molar entropies and heats of mixing were calculated from the experimental data by means of Darken's procedure for the aluminum-tin-gallium system at 800℃ and by Schuhmann's method for the aluminum-indium-tin system at 750℃. All activities of the three components of the aluminum-tin-gallium solution exhibit positive deviations from the Raoult's law, and in the liquid aluminum indium tin solution a miscibility gap exists and the activities of the components show positive and negative deviations. The activities of the components of the aluminum tin gallium system were also calculated using a regular solution model, and the values derived are in comparatively good agreement with the experimental results. The interaction parameters for the different components of the two ternary systems have been decided from the experimental data.
