In an article entitled "Ist Politik als Wissenschaft moglich?" (1929), Karl Mannheim insisted as follows : It is not until "Politik" orient itself as the forms of knowledge which are qualitatively different from those of modern natural sciences that it can be realized as "Wissenschaft". His argument, though it directly deals with "Politik", gives us fruitful implications on thinking about "Padagogik als Wissenschaft". In this paper, referring to the problems of "Wissenssoziologie", the background context of his argument, I attempted to consider the scientific character of "Padagogik" with the help of his conception "Theorie der Praxis". From his point of view, some signficant perspectives on the controversies over Science of Education can be acquired.
