This paper describes the numerical analysis of creep deformations of shells of revolution under unsymmetrical load with applications to a cylindrical shell. There are many investigations on the creep problem of shells of revolution because they are closely related to the analysis and the design of pressure vessels used in high temperature. These investigations, however, are almost all concerned with problems subjected to axi-symmetrical loads. In this paper the mathematical theory of creep is developed for two hardening laws : the time hardening law and the strain hardening law. The basic differential equations derived for incremental values with respect to time are numerically solved by a finite difference method, and the solutions at any time are obtained by integration of the incre. mental values As a numerical example the creep problem of a cylindrical shell important in practical use is treated. In the middle of a cylindrical shell, the stress is relaxed and the deformation is expanded with the lapse time. The result difference from elastic solution is obtained.
