Prediction of the Vapor-Liquid Equilibrium (VLE) is based on a lot of nonnumerical analysis so, this makes it's software much more empirical and difficult, compared with estimation of other physical properties. There are various kinds of computer programs which are used to predict the VLE of fixed mixtures. On the other hand, there are, however, difficulties in adopting one of them to the mixture to be predicted, since sufficient knowledge for them is needed. For solving such problems, the so-called "expert system", i. e., a version of Artificial Intelligence is available. An azeotropic mixture is not able to be separated by the ordinary distillation. The mixture is usually separated by adding the third component, i. e., an entrainer. There are fixed conditions for the entrainer. This paper presents a method to select the entrainer using Artificial Intelligense techniques from the data base of VLE.
