This paper present an analytical framework to measure the effects of foreign direct investment (FDI) on the economy of the host country, particularly the technological structure, amount of domestic production and imports and the level of employment, wages and prices. This framework is applied to study the effects of U.S. and Japan direct investments made in the 10-year period 1982-1991 on the Philippine economy in 1991.
