Ohmori moorland which is situated in the south end of Owari Hills (about 35°17′N.L. and 137°03′E.L.) is about 20km off from the seashore and about 60 meters above the sea-level. From the phytosociological records collected during 1974-75,the following 2 communities, 11 sub-communities, 6 variant-communities and 2 sub-variant-communities are distinguished. A-1 Rhododendron kaempferi-Arundinaria pygmaea var. glabra community B-1 Eulalia speciosa-Arundinella hirta sub-community C-1 Gentiana thunbergii variant-community C-2 Viola pumilio variant-community C-3 Cladonia rangiferina variant-community C-4 Typical community (variant-community) B-2 Typical community (sub-community) A-2 Moliniopsis japonica-Ischaemum aristatum community B-1 Rhynchospora fujiiana sub-community C-1 Rhynchospora chinensis-Eleocharis wichurai variant-community D-1 Eriocaulon decemflorum var. nipponica-Rhynchospora rubra sub-variant-community D-2 Typical community (sub-variant-community) C-2 Typical community (variant-community) B-2 Juncus papillosus sub-community B-3 Eleocharis congesta sub-community B-4 Juncus effusus var. decipiens sub-community B-5 Typical community (sub-community) B-6 Carex biwensis sub-community B-7 Rhynchospora rubra sub-community B-8 Rhynchospora alba sub-community B-9 Lycopus maackianus-Scirpus juncoides sub-community The main vegetation of Ohmori moorland is dominated by Moliniopsis japonica accompanying Isachne globosa and Ischaemum aristatum, so this moorland is said to be typical mixed sphagnum bog in south-west Japan. As for the succession course of the moorland plant communities, the following 3 series are obtained by the water level and the mud conditions. Sere 1 Succession moves from wet oligotrophic condition to wet eutrophic condition-the community of B-1 moves to B-2 and B-2 moves to B-9. Sere 2 Succesion moves from wet oligotrophic condition to dry oligotrophic condition-the community of B-1 moves to B-7 or to B-8 or to B-6. Sere 3 Succession moves from wet eutrophic condition to dry eutrophic condition-the community of B-9 moves to B-3 or to B-4 or to B-5.
