• The susceptibility of three breeds (LWD, LWH and LWHD) of pigs to the infection of advanced third-stage larvae of G. hispidum were comparatively investigated. (1) The most susceptible crossbred pig was LWHD. The duration of egg output from LWHD after infection was longer than that from both LWD and LWH. (2) Both infection and recovery rates of adults of G. hispidum from LWHD was the highest among the three crossbred pigs. (3) The antibody productions of pigs intra-peritoneally or orally infected, showed the similar patterns among the three crossbred pigs in the course of infection. These results indicated that all the three crossbred pigs studied can be final hosts of G. hispidum ; however, there were some differences in susceptibility among them. The loaches imported from China to Japan have the infective larvae G. hispidum ; therefore, the life cycle of this parasite could be completed in Japan.
