As for the "Bed Town" in Osaka where industrial workers are inhabited, the town planning of exploiting land and extending buildings is now under way, such as Senri New Town in the north and Senhoku New Town in the south of Osaka. Above all, the latter is said to be the largest in the Orient and has capacity for about 200,000 people, covering area 15,200,000 square meters. Therefore the floras growing in this area appear to become extinct sooner or later. It is really regrettable that these deplorable facts are happening, so I heartily wish to preserve forever all specimens of the species and some photographs of their mode of life. Further I should like to add that I heartily express my gratitude to Mr. Masaru Hori for undertaking the task of teaching.
