The report discusses at some length the international contribution of Takushoku University in the postwar period as seen in the minutes of the university trustees' meetings. Noting that the position of Takushoku University changed after the war, the report nevertheless notes that there was an important continuity that defined its foundational spirit : opposition to any form of oppression, injustice and inequality. Before the war these ideals were expressed, among others, in the ideal of liberation of Asia from the yoke of Western colonial oppression. In the immediate postwar period, during the American Occupation, there was little scope for international activity, but since Japan regained its independence in 1952,efforts to achieve a revival of Asia and to realize "peace and prosperity without oppression" have continued relentlessly. Specifically, they have involved academic and cultural exchanges with the developing nations, study-abroad programs, etc. These efforts have been in part made possible by the dedication of many graduates of the university who are active in various parts of the world on behalf of the ideals of Takushoku University. The report attributes a universal significance to these efforts.
