For the increase of possibility of the great disaster, such as the earthquake, landslide, explosion and collapse of building etc, the rescue machines or robots which save the human lives in the hazardous environment, must be developed. The most important and the most difficult task of the rescue robot is to realize the "direct grasping" of a part of human body. The author has tried to realize the handling of a part of human body on the development of rescue robot. This robot has distributed tactile sensors, a force/torque sensor, a slip sensor and also vision sensors to control the rescue robot without giving any harm to the sufferer. In this paper, the concept of the rescue robot system is introduced.
