Unsteady aerodynamic characterisics of a stalled cascade oscillating in a uniform flow were studied by cascade tunnel experiment. Attention was paid particularly to the relation between the propagation of rotating stall and the occurrence of stall flutter. Experimental results were compared with the results of the numerical analysis obtained by the vortex method. It was found that an intense stall flutter excitation occurs when the propagation of rotating stall is synchronized with the phase propagation of the blade oscillation. Also it was made clear that the behavior of the stall vortex shed from the leading edge of the blade plays an important role to both phenomena of rotating stall and stall flutter. Coincidence between the experiment and the numerical results was very well.
