This paper discusses the stochastic system representation for handwriting process of script and its application to writer recognition. The stochastic system characterizing the motion in writing a script such as signature can be described by random impulse response. The random impulse response can be estimated in terms of the horizontal and vertical components of the handwriting motion described as stochastic process, which are considered as the input and output of the system, respectively. With the random impulse response it is possible to recognize the writer of the script. Writer recognition experiments were attempted to show the effectiveness of the proposed method.
