Pulsatile flows in circular pipe were numerically investigated in order to obtain the basic understanding of the generating mechanism of Post-Stenotic Dilatation (PSD) from the fluid dynamic point of view. The vorticity and steamfunction formulation of the Navier-Stokes equations was solved for a pipe flow with a sudden expansion using finite difference method, and the velocity distribution and the reattachment point were determined. These results showed fairly good agreement with the analytical results and the reattachment point obtained is coincided with the experimental result.
