An investigation of the low-current-density cold-cathode diode distinguished by non-self-convergent electron flow and the absence of an applied magnetic field is described. Diode voltage and current can be easy adjusted by changing the diode separation due to absence of prepulse, while pulse-to-pulse reproducibility is rather good. The diode is coupled directly to a co-axial Marx generator. The energy conversion efficiency is high reaching to 61% and it strongly depends on the impedance of diode. The maximum current density on the anode foil is obtained in the range from 100 A/cm^2 to 200 A/cm^2.
