Confined alpha-particle diagnostics by a pellet injection is proposed. The alpha-particle density can be obtained from the number of decaying photons emitted from He (n≥2) ions which are produced through the one-electron transfer reaction of an alpha-particle from the probing ion ablated from the pellet before it is fully ionized. The counting rate estimated with theoretical cross sections and the calculated pellet ablation rate is sufficient for the observation under the bremmstrahlung background. The alpha-particle velocity distribution will be also obtained from the Doppler broadening of the spectral lines.
