The generation conditions of the dissipative trapped ion instability (DTII) are investigated for the parameters of PLT and INTOR. The finite banana width effect is taken into account in the dispersion relation. The conditions are greatly influenced by the impurities. Though the plasmas are well in the banana regime in both PLT and INTOR, DTII is not excited for Z_<eff>=3.5,and excited but it has negative growth rate for Z_<eff>=1.5,where Z_<eff> is the effective charge number. Only for the pure case (Z_<eff>=1.0), the growth rate has small positive value in INTOR.
