Resonant interaction of solitons is studied in detail for the Kadomtsev-Petviashvili equation. The resonance solutions are discussed in the framework of the Zakharov-Shabat theory. It is shown that the breakdown of the Zakharov-Shabat theory associated with the soliton-resonance is not essential and can be avoided.
